Adventure Racing!!!!

This past weekend, Nathan and I went down to Baton Rouge for the Baton Rouge Urban Adventure Race. Nathan competed with Scarlett (his faithful racing partner) and Nathan Furlow (his faithful Spades partner). We left our kids with Nanny and Papa, and we headed down for a day of illegal driving, chin splints, dehydration cramps, Scarlett jokes, and sun. This is our illustrious team as they were headed to the start line. Because we have two Nathans in this story, I will refer to them as Sharbono and Furlow. Sharbono began cramping early in the race...his legs were all knotted up as a result of NOT drinking enough water before the race. We will be sure not to make this mistake again. Here, Scarlett is running with Sharbono to give him the motivation he needs to succeed. :)

One of the checkpoints was on the U.S.S. Kidd. Here we have Furlow and Scarlett, looking like they are on a morning stroll while Sharbono fought hard to keep from crumpling in pain. It sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. His cramps really were that bad.

On the boat...Furlow and Scarlett are navigating, while Sharbono looks like he is praying for angels to carry him away.

There were no angels, but I did hear tell of a delicious water fountain inside. Ah, the simple joys of adventure racing.

At Magnolia Mound...If you look closely, Scarlett's fist is pumped in exclamation. That or she is telling the boys to hurry their tails up! :)
Brittany (Furlow's girlfriend) and I were across the street waiting to turn in so we could get a good picture.

Sharbono drinking his gatorade.....
Furlow giving me a rather interesting face....

Scarlett had left these two and was headed toward the transition area!!! Headed off to the canoe portion.

Scarlett, how are you THIS happy after running and biking a ridiculous amount of miles?? This girl is a beast!!!!!!! Look at the two Nathans trying to keep up. ;)
Getting in the canoe....
THE FINISH LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Sunday, the Pourciaus came for a visit with some of their friends from college. Here is a VERY sweet baby girl playing at my house. This is SO a picture of the future when Stella comes for a week to Uncle Nathan and Aunt Jen's house. :)

And some of my babies! :) Rylie and Sadie love boxes more than anything in life. Sadie was trying to crawl into ANOTHER empty diaper box.

Rylie getting in there with her....

Do you think this is what the ark looked like when Noah called in the animals???

Sadie's had enough of this ship....

This ended in tragedy when Sadie toppled out of the box with Rylie on top of her. It was quite funny, but I felt like a bad mother for taking pictures while they cried, so I helped them up instead. :)
I'm off to clean house. We are having game night here tonight because volleyball has been rained out. Can't wait to see everybody!!!!

I was logged in under someone else so I had to delete my comment and log in under my name. Anyhow thank you, Jen, for the race pictures. I am going to put them on my facebook.

Hahahahaha! So many comments...so little time. First of all, I am loving how I am all hugged up on Furlow in the team shot even though I hardly know him at all...guess I could just feel that he would be a cool teammate. Thanks for spending your anniversary with me! I had a blast!

Nathan should have called in his alternate for that race. Lets hope he drinks plenty of water before chasing down criminals. :)

I'm just loving the "Sadie's had enough of this ship" caption. Excellent set up and delivery. Loved it!

Jen-thanks so much for letting us hang out at your house during our college friends meetup! Your house is beautiful! Would you mind emailing me about the pergo flooring you have in your living room? I loved it and would like to know more about it!
